The Longest Winter

It is still cold in NYC right now, but spring is in sight! I can’t recall another season feeling longer than these past 3 months. Time seems to move slower here and I don’t mind it one bit!

Simply put, God blew me away this winter with unexpected gifts, wonderful surprises, unanticipated challenges, remarkable breakthroughs, loving discipline, fulfilled requests, and continued growth. I rested, labored, learned, listened, waited, pleaded, struggled, and celebrated. Through it all I clung to Christ and pressed into communion with the Almighty. You may not be surprised to learn that he proved himself faithful once again. The blessings of devotion to walking with the King are unfathomable and innumerable.

“So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” -II Corinthians 4:16-18

I met dozens of amazing people and made lots of new friends. I spent weeks with family and grew closer to my siblings, parents, and relatives. Cold weather, warm weather, sunshine, rain, snow and wind called to mind the power of the one who created and sustains the universe through the word of his power.

“The years of our life are seventy,
or even by reason of strength eighty;
yet their span is but toil and trouble;
they are soon gone, and we fly away.
Who considers the power of your anger,
and your wrath according to the fear of you?
So teach us to number our days
that we may get a heart of wisdom.”
-Psalm 90: 9-12
